7月11日はフリートレースでした。優勝は桂さん。おめでとうございます。
July 11th was a fleet race. The winner was Mr. Katsura congratulations!
７月フリートレース
７艇がエントリーして行われた７月フリートレース。桂さんや茨城からマッサンも参戦
。
先月に引き続き２回目のレース委員長をやることになったコーヂーです。
コースはソーセージコース。風向は東、７～８m/sくらいの強風で安定。
夕方からサマーパーティーがあるため、捨てレースなしの３レースを実施しました。
前回はフラッグが上がらない、合図の時間を勘違いし、１分早くホーンを鳴らしてしま
うなど、運営の不手際が続出しましたが、今回はその反省を生かし、陸で入念にシミュレ
ーションして臨みました。
運営も、モトヒロさん、ターさん、フルカワさんと私の４人もいたので万全の状態。
第１レースの開始時刻は、下マークのセットが決まらず、５分遅れでしたが、その他は
特に目立ったミスもなく、無事３レースをしっかりこなせました。
まだ、運営の独り立ちには自信がありませんが、強風レースのマーク打ちが経験できた
ことは良かったです。でも、強風時に本部船の位置をキープすることはできず、ターさん
にやってもらいました。
レースは、第３レースまで順位が確定しない、競ったレース展開でしたが、第３レース
を終えても上位３艇は２ポイント差以内の白熱したレース結果。
仮に、第４レースがあって、１位が誰になるかで、結果は変わったかもしれない、おも
しろいレース展開でした。
サマーパーティーも久しぶりに参加しましたが、多くのメンバーが集合し、メンバーの
子どもたちも大勢集まったので、花火大会を開くなど、大変盛り上がりました。
何といっても、高田先生と原田さんの料理、生ビールサーバー、メンバーの各種一品（
逸品）持ち寄りが、楽しい会に花を添えてくれました。
夏のクラブのレセプションは、とても楽しいことを思い出しました。

July Fleet Race
The July Fleet Race took place with 7 boats entered. Katsura-san and Massan, who came from Ibaraki, also joined the race.
This is Koji, serving as the Race Committee Chair for the second time following last month.
The course was a sausage (windward-leeward) course. The wind was easterly, blowing a steady, strong breeze of around 7 to 8 m/s.
Since we had a Summer Party in the evening, we ran three races with no throw-outs (no discards).
Last time, there was a series of race management blunders—flags wouldn't go up, I miscalculated the signal timing and sounded the horn a minute early, and so on. However, taking those lessons to heart, I thoroughly simulated everything on shore before heading out this time.
The race committee was in perfect shape with four of us: Motohiro-san, Ta-san, Furukawa-san, and myself.
The start time for Race 1 was delayed by 5 minutes because we struggled to set the leeward mark, but otherwise, there were no noticeable mistakes, and we successfully managed all three races.
I am not yet confident enough to run the committee completely on my own, but it was a great experience to practice mark laying in strong winds. However, I couldn't hold the committee boat's position in the heavy breeze, so I had Ta-san handle that for me.
As for the racing, it was highly competitive, with the standings undecided until the final race. Even after Race 3 finished, it was a heated result with the top three boats separated by no more than 2 points.
It was such an exciting development that if we had run a fourth race, the final results might have completely changed depending on who took first place.
I also attended the Summer Party for the first time in a while. Many members gathered, along with a lot of their children, making it a huge success with activities like a fireworks display.
Above all, the dishes prepared by Takada-sensei and Harada-san, the draft beer server, and the various potluck dishes (or rather, masterpieces!) brought by the members really added flair to a fun gathering.
It reminded me of just how enjoyable our summer club receptions can be.
