June Fleet RaceThe June Fleet Race was held with a total of 7 boats entering, including Katsura-san and Sugihara-san from the Hikari Fleet.I’m Kojy. Having just obtained my First-Class Boat License in February, this was my very first time serving as the Race Officer (RO).We set a windward-leeward (sausage) course. The wind was blowing from the east to slightly southeast at around 4 to 8 m/s. With consistently good breeze, we managed to complete 4 races.However, I made a series of blunders running the event—from struggling to hoist the flags before the start of Race 1, to misjudging the time and sounding the horn one minute too early for Race 2. I definitely need more experience and training so I can keep my cool next time!We somehow got through all 4 races, but if I had been more efficient, the schedule would have run much smoother. I have a lot of room for improvement for future races.Now, as for the actual racing, Katsura-san played a perfect game, taking 1st place in every single race!That said, it was thrilling to watch—there was a dead heat between Katsura-san and Naito-san right up to the finish line, and other sailors were swapping positions after rounding the final leeward mark. The action kept us on our toes until the very end.Next month’s race will take place just before the Summer Party.
